Messages you choose to send
The contact form asks for your name, email address, and message. These details are used to receive and respond to your question, correction, or suggestion. Email, hosting, and security services may process the information needed to deliver and protect a message. Please avoid including passwords or other sensitive account information.
If you would like a message corrected or removed, email the address above with enough detail to identify it. Additional information may be needed to verify that the request concerns your own message.
Guide feedback
The optional “Did this guide help?” buttons record the guide, the answer, the date, and an aggregate count. This feedback record does not include your name, email address, IP address, or a visitor identifier. Ordinary hosting and security logs are separate from this feedback record.
The site uses your browser’s session storage to remember that you submitted feedback for a guide during the current session. Clearing this site’s browser storage resets this feedback preference.
Site analytics with Tillsight
We use Tillsight on this site’s WordPress server to understand how people find and use our videos and written guides. Its reports include page paths and titles, referring sites and campaign tags, browser and device categories, countries, time a page is visible, scroll depth, site search terms, downloads, and outbound link clicks.
Tillsight processes your IP address and browser information to create a visitor hash that changes each day. Its analytics tables do not store raw IP addresses or full user-agent strings. It does not set visitor-tracking cookies or save a visitor identifier in your browser. Visitor counts are estimates based on that daily hash. Country estimates are resolved on our server using country headers or a downloaded location database; region and city collection are off.
Tillsight is configured to respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals and to delete analytics records older than 24 months through scheduled cleanup. Analytics reports are restricted to site administrators.
You can exclude this browser from Tillsight or allow it to be counted again. The exclusion saves one opt-out flag in this site’s local storage. Clearing that storage resets the choice. This choice applies to Tillsight; the Google controls below cover Google services.
Visits, advertising, and embedded video
The site uses Google Analytics to understand how pages are used. Google AdSense advertising code is also included. These services can receive information such as the page URL, IP address, browser details, and information from cookies or similar technologies. Google explains its processing and available controls in How Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services.
Video pages embed YouTube’s player through its privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain. The player is still a Google service and can communicate with Google when it loads or you interact with it. See YouTube’s explanation of privacy-enhanced embedding and Google’s Privacy Policy. The “Watch on YouTube” link opens a separate service governed by its own practices.
Operating and protecting the website
Hosting, security, and delivery systems can record technical information, including IP addresses, requested URLs, timestamps, and browser information, to operate the site, diagnose problems, and protect it against abuse. Stored messages and site data may also be included in access-restricted backups.
Your browser controls
You can use your browser settings to manage cookies and site storage. Google also provides advertising controls and a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
